September 1

We have have been receiving shipments like crazy!! We love everything (of course, we picked it all!), but I have to tell you that we were especially excited to open up our love the packaging.

Also this week T made and covered cushions for the two chairs and bench in the wedding corner. Kudos to her- they look great and I would never have had the patience, go T! Tomorrow we are knee deep in unpacking. All the inventory is in the shop, the computer, cash drawer and all other non glamourous but oh so necessary items are ready to be set up. Here we go!

Paper, Pencil Cases and Vinyl

Today we met with the rep for Thomas Paul and Austin Press. We had a great time looking through everything and are really excited about some Thomas Paul accessories and beautiful Austin Press stationery we ordered. Here is a peek at some of the Austin Press goodies:

Some of the coolest Thomas Paul stuff we ordered is not online yet so I can’t share those pics, but here is a hip pencil case we’ll be getting:

After the meeting we put up the vinyl on our windows. Finally – there is some indication of who and what is going in! Finally- we have some free advertising. We did put the bottom wording a little too close to the logo- but all in all we did pretty well. I got a nice little sunburn in the process since it was a hot one in La Jolla today. No pain no gain right? Here is our newly branded window:

I am loving it!

Painted

Today we received boxes from Pikku and bluepoolroad. Two of my favorites- I just love both of these lines. The design and quality are amazing.

Here are some snapshots of pikku– these paper notions are better in person that in pictures.

bluepoolroad by Peggy Wong- really beautiful paper and design. Please check out her website and blog!

This weekend, in addition to shopping for shiny new furniture, T spent some time painting some great antique store finds. We found great tables, made of real wood and great construction, for great prices- but they needed some love. T did a great job updating the paint and now they look Sweet Paper ready.

Bride’s Seat

Yesterday my brother-in-law Matt helped us pick up some furniture and bring it to the shop (a hearty thanks to him for his help). Probably our favorite furniture purchase so far is this fabulous bench- which will be the very special seat for our very special bridal customers.

Still on the list to purchase is a cushion and some pillows, and of course the accompanying table and a couple of chairs. But doesn’t it look fabulous??? The perfect beginning to a cozy corner in the shop for selecting custom wedding invitations, social stationery, baby announcements bar/bat mitzvah invitations….

The floor is in!

I stopped by the shop this morning to see our new floors! They were installed yesterday and the whole place looks so much better.

that's my oldest little guy on our new floors....

In case you forgot- here is a reminder of what it looked like before (ie before we tore out the sinks, patched over the door, painted everything and redid the floors):

Today they are starting on the base boards and next week all the windows and doors will be trimmed out. We’ll also add a nice fireplace surround to finish off the look of that non working fireplace. After that we will start actually working in the store- setting things up. Yee Haw!!

neglect.

I know, I know- I have been totally neglecting my beloved blog. It’s been a tough 7 days, let me tell ya (in addition to 4 kids home for the summer and starting a business, we moved out of our house for 2 months- don’t ask). I can at least say that while I have not been blogging- my sister and I have been making a lot of progress, on everything! We are continuing to pour through catalogs, select merchandise, enter info into our POS system, not to mention securing more wedding albums for our future bridal customers. Last post I promised reports on 42pressed and the Twig and Fig baby album. I have not forgotten, I promise. For now I am just going to promise even more Tramadol Online in-depth posts about amazing partnerships we have been lucky enough to forge. Wiley Valentine for instance- we received one of their wedding albums today and we love love love it. We also selected some of the cutest greeting cards on the planet from Mr. Boddington’s Studio– such a lovely operation out of NYC. There is, of course, much more, but in an effort to really organize ourselves before heading to the LA Gift show Wednesday- I am going to get back to inventory tasks.

I really do love spending time selecting the cutest, hippest and most fabulous items for our shop. I can’t wait until the doors open and we can really share it all with you! Speaking of….our construction man extraordinaire is starting on Wednesday!!!

spinning

We are off and running!! Lots of progress, many great things happening and so much more work to be done- all of which is leaving my head spinning…but we are doing great! We’ve had a few meetings with a great handyman who is going to help us spruce up 7527- he should be starting next week. We picked out some fab wood-ish flooring and even bought our first piece of furniture for the store. yay!! I have taken a bunch of “before” photos that we will post this week and of course will spotlight plenty of “after” pictures when the work is done.

Next week we are headed to the LA Gift Show, hoping to find plenty of cute gifty type items for the shop. Before then we have to nail down paint colors, finalize lighting plans, select a security company and get phones hooked up. We are still on the hunt for unique display pieces as well as the perfect checkout counter. We are planning to go to a flea market in Pasadena next weekend to see what we can dig up. That is really T’s area of expertise, so I’ll let her report on all that.

Also- our logo is done! It is amazingly fabulous. We are going to use it and our new colors to completely revamp the website and blog. I can’t wait to unveil it to you all- hopefully before the end of the month.

In other news we got the 42pressed wedding and baby albums as well as Twig & Fig’s Bar/Bat Mitzvah album and baby album. We’ll give you more of an in depth report on that exciting news shortly.

I’m off to continue entering inventory in our POS software- fun times 😉

paint chip art

First, updates: The point of sale software is finalized and installed on my computer. Phew! Now on to entering all the suppliers and products we can’t wait to get in the store.

We have also pretty much decided on and sourced our packaging, another phew! We are meeting with Erika from Delphine today to finalize colors for our logo, so some of the packaging will be tweaked accordingly. We are super excited for this australian pokies play online free meeting today and hope to be able to unveil our new look soon!

The scoop is a blog I read regurlarly, the girls over at Orange Beautiful are hip to some pretty cool stuff. I just loved this post on Monday featuring the work of paper artist Matthew Sporzynski. I mean serisouly, with paint chips? So cool…check it out here.

have a good first day of July (where does the time go?)

POS, as in point of sale…

Don’t know about you, but every time I say POS I can’t stop myself from thinking of the not so nice (but often useful) phrase “piece of sh*#” rather than what I am actually talking about, which is point of sale.

Anyway, we are currently lost in POS land, trying to figure out which system meets our needs but is not overkill. Over the weekend we made some major headway and have pretty much decided on some POS software for macs. Now we are just making sure the software works with all the credit card/cash drawer and receipt printers we want to use. Not pretty or exciting, but necessary. I actually am pretty excited to get it all nailed down and working. I think using POS software’s inventory management tools to organize our suppliers, ordering etc will be very beneficial.

In other news, we are expecting the 42pressed bridal and baby books to arrive this week as well as Twig & Fig’s Bar/Bat Mitzvah and baby books. We are also going to be ordering the rest of our custom albums this week so stay tuned for designer spotlights!!

My sis brought home some champagne and this cute note to celebrate our lease signing. The lovely notecard was made by saima says

#1

7527 La Jolla Boulevard #1
La Jolla, CA 92037

such a beautiful address don’t cha think? We officially have a home! Yay! Lease is signed, checks cut, both are sealed and will be delivered tomorrow. Woo Hoo!!!!!

July 1 we take possession of the cottage. Here it is again just in case you forgot (although how could you forget this cuteness….)

our cottage, itching for our sweet paper sign...

at 7525 we are all about paper love

As we make improvements we will share before and after photos. Seriously the inside of this place is so darn cute vigrx reviews independently– we just need to do a little polish and updating. Our very ambitious goal is to open mid-September. If the stars are aligned, the contractors are even close to on time and we get our butts in gear it is very possible. I can’t even begin to explain how excited I am, I’ve wanted this for years and years. I am profoundly grateful and lucky to have sistar as my business partner. I’m pretty sure she is as psyched as I am. I am also eternally grateful to my unfailingly supportive husband. I heart them both- a lot.

and that’s about as mushy as I’ll ever get 😉
